Summer 2009 Information and Registration

- On-Line Registration for the House Summer 2009 league should only be used by those families that have first corresponded with the Burke Basketball registrar.

Summer League Cost: The Summer 2009 Burke Basketball player fee for both House and Travel is $65 per player upon completion of registration via the on-line form.

Summer House Program: Burke Basketball offers a 4-week Summer League program in July with registration beginning at the end of May. The league will be less structured than our winter program, with no practices (for rising grades 5-12) and flexible game attendance. There will be two games per week on weeknights. Come to as many games as your summer schedule permits.

We also have a summer league called House Fun-Damentals, for rising 3rd-4th grade players .  This will involve only one game per week along with one practice per week.   Your family commitment will be 2 weeknights per week, for 4 weeks. This may likely be a Co-Ed league, based on prior year registration numbers.  

Fun environment to play and develop your skills.

House Evaluations are not required for the Summer House Program. Teams will be formed based on grade as well as player and coach requests at time of registration. Grades may be combined based on registration numbers.

Please provide us your primary email address during the registration process, and check it frequently.

Volunteering to help for a Summer House team is simple. Please enter your contact information using the on-line Volunteer Registration process at the bottom of the page. Coaching the summer teams (grades 5-12) is very relaxed as there are no practices, only overseeing 2 games per week on weeknights from 6-10PM at local public school gyms.

Registration - To register a player for a Summer House team, click on the link at the bottom of this Overview page. Payment for this season is via credit card (VISA or MasterCard) or check. Print out the Certificate of Registration at the end to keep a record of your player's information. Mail checks promptly after you register online to:

Summer Travel Programs: Tryouts for the Travel Program will be conducted June 1-20 per the schedule set by the Travel coaching staff. The tryout schedule is posted below.

This program is for players that have previously played Travel or for skilled House players that are interested in evaluating their skills at the next level of competition. The program is for ages 10 though 15, as per County requirements (ages as of October 1, 2009). The additional Summer Travel fee of $45 will be collected by your coach if you are selected for a travel team. 

If you do not make a Summer Travel team, contact our Registrar so we can place you on a House team, if desired. Do not rely on the Travel team coaches to relay any information regarding team status after tryout selections have been made.  Please include your Player's Name and Age Group on all emails.

Summer Travel games will begin 22 June (Monday).  Practices start in early June.

Games - There will be 2 to 3 evening games per week with limited practices once the season begins. Games will be played at various locations in the county. Games will start on June 22nd with a ten (10) game schedule and conclude with a single elimination tournament for top teams in each age group.

Coaching - If you are interested in coaching in the Burke Basketball Travel Program, applications are reviewed on a semi-annual basis.

To coach one of our Travel teams, contact the Burke Basketball Travel Commissioner via email with details of your coaching background.

Applications are reviewed by the Burke Travel Board, with selections based upon their inputs. Please include the follow background areas as they apply to you:

Travel June Tryouts - Ages: Boys & Girls 9-13, rising grades 5-8 are eligible (Age group & grade as of Fall 2009).

Travel tryouts will start on Monday, 1 June as outlined in the schedule below. Please note -- the tryout schedule can change frequently during the first few weeks of June due to elements beyond our control.

Travel game schedules/locations will be distributed by each coach as it becomes available from the county.

Make sure your have your Coach's contact information and look for emails from the Burke Basketball organization for last minute scheduling issues.

The additional Travel fee of $45 will be collected by your Travel Coach before June 30, in order for your player to play on a Travel team.

* * Reminder - if you do not make a travel team, please send the Registrar an email along with the player's full name and age group.

Let us know whether you would like your player to be placed on a House team or marked for a refund for the summer season.

Men's and Women's 18+ Summer League: If you are interested in playing in the Adult 18+ group, register via the link below. Some of the registration fields may not apply.
