Summer House Program: Burke Basketball offers a 4-week Summer League program in July with registration beginning in May. The league will be less structured than our winter program, with no practices (for rising grades 5-12) and flexible game attendance. Come to as many games as your summer schedule permits. We also have a summer league for rising 3rd-4th grade players . This will involve only one game per week along with one practice day during the week. Your family commitment will be 2 days per week, for 4 weeks. Fun environment to play and develop your skills. House Evaluations are not required for the Summer House Program. Teams will be formed based on grade, and age groups may be combined based on regisrtation numbers. Please provide us your primary email address during the registration process, and check it grequently. Volunteering to help for a Summer House team is simple. Please put your contact information in using the on-line Volunteer Registration process. Coaching the summer teams (grades 5-12) is very relaxed as there are no practices, only overseeing 2 games per week. Registration - To register a player for a Summer House team, click on the link at the bottom of this Overview page. Payment for this season is via credit card or check. Summer Travel Program: Tryouts for the Travel Program will be conducted June 2-6, per the schedule set by the Travel coaching staff. The tryout schedule is posted below. This program is for players that have previously played Travel or for skilled House players that are interested in evaluating their skills at the next level of competition. The program is for ages 10 though 15, as per County requirements (ages as of October 1, 2008). The additional Summer Travel fee of $45 will be collected by your coach after you make a travel team. If you do not make a Summer Travel team, contact our Registrar so we can place you on a House team, if desired. Do not rely on the Travel team coaches to relay any information regarding team status after tryout selections have been made. Please include your Player's Name and ID on all emails. Summer Travel games will start after18 June. Practices start in early June. If you want to tryout for a Travel team, select the Travel option during online registration; do not select the House option. Games - There will be 2 to 3 evening games per week with limited practices once the season begins. Games will be played at various locations, with schedules and locations being determined by the county. Games will start the middle or late June with a ten (10) game schedule and conclude with a single elimination tournament. Coaching - If you are interested in coaching in the Burke Basketball Travel Program, applications are reviewed on a semi-annual basis. To coach one of our Travel teams, contact the Burke Basketball Travel Commissioner via email with details of your coaching background. Applications are reviewed by the Burke Travel Board, with selections based upon their inputs. Please include the follow background areas as they apply to you:
Travel June Tryouts - Ages: Boys & Girls 9-15 including rising Freshman (Age group & grade as of Fall 2008). Travel tryouts will start on Monday, 3 June as outlined in the schedule below.
Travel game schedule/locations will be distributed by email by each coach as this information is developed too late in the season to be posted. Provide your primary email address during the registration process, and check it frequently. The tryout schedule can change frequently during the first few weeks of June due to elements beyond our control. Make sure your have your coache's contact information and look for emails from the Burke Basketball organization for last minute scheduling issues. The County Travel fee of $45 will be collected by your Travel Coach before June 30, in order for your player to play on a Travel team. Feel free to contact us for any question on the Travel or House program. * * Reminder - if you do not make a travel team, please send the Registrar an email along with the player's full name and Player ID. We will place your son/daughter on a House team. Please do not rely on the Travel team coaches to relay any information regarding team status after tryout selections have been made. Let us know whether you would like your player to be placed on a House team or marked for a refund for the summer season. Men's and Women's 18+ Summer League: If you are interested in playing in the Adult 18+ group, register via the link below. Some of the registration fields may not apply.
