Instructional Program (Winter Only)

This program is designed for boys and girls ages five (5) through six (6) years old (or grades K-1).

The program is designed to teach the fundamentals of basketball, focusing on individual skills and preparing players to enter league play at seven (7) years old (grade 2). The program lasts for six (6) weeks and concludes with the player being introduced to the team aspects of the game with scrimmages during the last two (2) weeks of the program.

Each participant will receive a Burke Basketball shirt and basketball. Group teams are formed in December encompassing 5 sessions of up to 40 players (primarily grouped by school attended). Sessions take place between 8am and 2pm on Saturdays in January and early February at Terra Centre Elementary school.

House Program

The House program is offered for players in grades 2-12, ranging in age from 7 to 18. It provides a structured environment which allows players to develop their skills and enjoy the game of basketball.

Practices are weeknights, normally one practice a week for an hour with games played on weekends in the Burke / Fairfax Station / West Springfield area.  

Age groups are determined via the players grade as of the 1st of October.     


Travel Program

This program is designed for skilled players, serious about developing their game and seeking a higher level of competition.

Boys teams will be entered for ages 10- 13 and Girls teams for ages 10-14. Select teams normally practice two (2) nights a week and play two (2) games per week.

Age group is determined from the player's age as of Oct. 1st.

Games are played at various locations throughout Fairfax County. The county (FCYBL.org) organizes the Travel game schedule for weekends and all county teams.  

Travel - Residence Rules - All Burke players must reside in Fairfax County and are generally limited to our allocated zip codes of (20124, 22153, 22009, 22015, 22030, 22032, 22039, 22153, 22079 and 22199), with 2 zip code and age group exceptions allowed per team. Age groups, zip code allowances, zip/age exceptions and other information can be found at www.fcybl.org.


Gray Hair/Men's League Program (Winter Only)

Gray Hair Basketball offers men 35 and older (strictly enforced) an opportunity to continue playing the game in a competitive environment against their friends in the Burke community. 

Registration will be held in October/November with games starting in January.

Games are played weeknights in Burke area elementary school gyms.

Women's League (Winter Only)

The Women's program is for young women age 30+. Registration begins in October/November. Games begin in January.
