June 13 Food Drive
Burke Basketball Community:
The past two plus months have been very challenging and unprecedented with COVID-19 and now the social unrest. We know these have impacted everyone in our community. Times like this remind us of the importance of coming together as a community and helping our neighbors in need. Burke Basketball would like to give back to the community by sponsoring a food drive on Saturday, June 13, from 10am to 2pm at Burke Sporting Goods. All donations will be given to local food banks. Many within our community have been impacted over the past two months and need our support. So please consider dropping off some non-perishable food items at Burke Sporting Goods, 5616 Ox Rd. Fairfax Station (next to Los Toltecos and the post office). Please stay tuned in for additional details; we may have a box set up at Burke Sporting Goods sometime during next week for folks who can't make June 13.
Thank you very much. And I hope you are all doing as well as can be expected in these unique times.
Paul Buellesbach, President Burke Basketball
Hello Burke Basketball community! I hope you are all doing as well as can be expected in these difficult times. It seems like a long time since we heard the balls bouncing in the gyms for the winter season. Although we don't have a clear indication what the county will do over the summer, we are opening registration in the hopes that the kids will be able to play sports again by this summer. With that in mind, we have decided to open a House and Select Summer Basketball preregistration.
If your child is interested in playing house or trying out for our Select summer teams please submit your information on the preregistration and we will be sure to contact you when we have more information on what our options are for this summer. Preregistration will be 100% free and will ensure that you get any information related to the Burke Basketball’s Summer Basketball opportunities. We'll be keeping a close eye on the current situation.
We won't be taking any payment at this time, though. If the gyms open, we will ask for payment at that time. I also recognize that many are undergoing financial hardship. Please remember that we have a scholarship program. Given all the turmoil around us, we'll do whatever we can to provide any sense of normalcy to the kids. So please don't hesitate to ask about the scholarship program, if we do play the summer season.
Our thoughts are with the entire community. We will get through this, but it will take some time. Stay safe, stay sane, and do the best we can to make our corner of the world a better place! Thank you.
